Our First Month

One month ago, TalkThisWay.ai launched with no marketing budget and no advertising plan. Today, we've crossed 1,000 users - and every single one of them found us through word of mouth.

I want to sit with that for a second, because it means something specific: a parent told another parent. A speech therapist mentioned it to a colleague. Someone posted a link in a Facebook group. A teacher passed it along to a family. Person to person, that's how this grew.

No ad campaign could have done that. Only people who actually found it useful, telling other people it might help them too.

Why This Milestone Matters

I didn't build TalkThisWay.ai to go viral. I built it because I watched my son Danyal struggle with tools that didn't fit how he thinks, and I couldn't find anything better. If it helped him, I hoped it might help others too.

A thousand people in a month tells me that gap was real - and that it wasn't just Danyal's gap. There are a lot of people out there who understand language clearly but need a different kind of tool to speak it.

The Decision: Free, Forever

When I launched in April, the plan was to offer a free month and figure out pricing from there. That plan didn't survive contact with reality.

Within days of launch, I was hearing from parents, adult AAC users, and caregivers for whom this app was the first thing that let them - or their loved one - say what they actually meant. Putting a price tag between someone and their own voice started to feel wrong.

So I made a decision: TalkThisWay.ai will stay free. Forever.

Concretely, that means:

• No credit card, ever, to use the core app.
• Both TalkThisWay Mode (AI-assisted) and Speller Mode fully unlocked for every user.
• No "free trial" that quietly turns into a paywall.

I'm covering the operating costs myself right now. Longer term, I'm looking at optional ways to support the mission - merchandise and things along those lines - but those will always be optional. The communication tool itself does not become a product you have to pay to keep using.

What's Next

We're just getting started. I'm reading every piece of feedback that comes in, watching how people actually use the app, and shaping what comes next around that - not around a roadmap I dreamed up in isolation.
